 Concerning MDIT and MDUL, I would use _ for both, and I would
 not bother with MDBO. MDBO is not used very much in academic
 writing. As for MDBU, even less. So I would only be concerned
 with MDIT and occasionally with MDUL, but only very occasionally.
 As I understand it underlining signifed italics in the days of
 typewriters. So MDIT covers well over 90% of the cases, I
 would imagine.

 More important at the moment is getting accented letters. If I
 can get that to work, I'll be a happy camper.
