To generate a bibliography in Ibid, you will most likely need a largest
executable program size of 580K or greater. You can check this from DOS with
the MEM command for versions of DOS 5 and higher and with the CHKDSK command
for other versions. If you have DOS 6, MEMMAKER may be able to achieve this
for you. IBM PC DOS users can use the RAMBOOST command. You should also set
the FILES setting in your CONFIG.SYS file to 30 or higher. If it is not
possible to free up that much conventional memory, Ibid provides a 3 step
alternate which involves beginning the generation in XyWrite, running the sort
routine from DOS and then finishing the formatting of the bibliography in
XyWrite. To do this, first go through the Generate options in Ibid. When you
receive an error message, exit from XyWrite and change directories to the Ibid
data directory (the directory where the XYBIB###.DAT files are located). To
run the sort routine, the sort program may need to be located in the Ibid data
directory. The name of that file is XYIBID-S.EXE. To run the sort routine,
type XYIBID-S and press Enter. Once the sort routine has finished, enter back
into XyWrite and get back to the Ibid menu. Finish the formatting by
selecting the Utility Menu and then choose the "Format bibliography generated
off line" option. This will produce your XYIBID.BIB file.
