stripmd

Robert,
stripmd is very handy. But it strips some modes that are
not superfluous---at least not in the way that I use XyWrite. For example
aaa bbb
is converted to
aaa bbb
But I really want that space to be in . I looked at the code and
I'm hesitant to tinker with it... Is there an easy fix?
