I finally got around to one more try at getting the help files installed--with
further dismal results. I copied the install program ot the hard drive, quit
Windows, and ran install. Infortunately, I misspelled the name of the the
source file (graybear.001) and that apparently caused a QEMM exception error. I
rebooted and tried again using the right name. This time the machine simply
hung. Rebooted, tried again, same result.
I can work around this by simply copying the files from the one machine on
which I've done a successful install. But that's not the point. No matter how
good XY4 may be--and I haven't really been able to find out--the isntall
program from hell is enough the keep me from even considering a systemwide
upgrade for now. What are the plans for correcting the massive deficiencies in
the installation procedure?
