Maiben: If you set your default display type to 0
(command D DT=0), files will be opened in eXPanded view
and the SEarch will therefore cover embedded text.

To find out what your current default display type is
(so that you can restore it later), command VA/NV DT and
make a note of the value. To restore it, command D DT=n
(where n is, of course, the original value).
