I apologize for being so slow on the uptake, but I just discovered how to
find the two files you asked me to post verbatim. (I also found two files
that sound very similar and, though they're probably innocuous, I've posted
them too in case they're mucking up the system.) ....Leslie
Here is AUTOEXEC.BAT:
SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T4
SET SOUND=C:\SBPRO
C:\SBPRO\SBP-SET /M:12 /VOC:12 /CD:12 /FM:12
LH /L:1,46576 C:\DOS\MSCDEX.EXE /V /D:MSCD001 /M:15
@ECHO OFF
LH /L:0;1,42384 /S C:\DOS\SMARTDRV.EXE
PROMPT $p$g
PATH C:\DOS;C:\WINDOWS;C:\GRS;
SET TEMP=C:\DOS
LH /L:1,34816 MOUSE
C:\DOS\COMMAND /C REMIND
WIN
Here is CONFIG.SYS:
DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS HIGHSCAN
BUFFERS=30,0
FILES=30
DOS=UMB
LASTDRIVE=E
FCBS=4,0
DEVICEHIGH /L:1,12048 =C:\DOS\SETVER.EXE
DOS=HIGH
STACKS=9,256
DEVICEHIGH /L:1,11856 =C:\SBPRO\DRV\SBPCD.SYS /D:MSCD001 /P:220
SHELL=C:\DOS\COMMAND.COM C:\DOS\ /p
(I don't know if the following is helpful at all, but I also found on the
C:directory, AUTOEXEC.BK and CONFIG.BK (NOT the backups, autoexec.bak and
config.bak):
AUTOEXEC.BK is:
SET SOUND=C:\SBPRO
C:\SBPRO\SBP-SET /M:12 /VOC:12 /CD:12 /FM:12
C:\SBPRO\DRV\MSCDEX.EXE /V /D:MSCD001 /M:15
@ECHO OFF
C:\WINDOWS\SMARTDRV.EXE
PROMPT $p$g
PATH C:\WINDOWS;C:\DOS
SET TEMP=C:\DOS
MOUSE
COMMAND /C REMIND
WIN
CONFIG.BK is:
DEVICE=C:\DOS\SETVER.EXE
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DOS=HIGH
FILES=30
BUFFERS=30
STACKS=9,256
