Observations re part of the message:

Dragon is definitely a good product. I have an old friend who works there :)

Get as much horsepower as you can afford.

Dragon sells a stand-alone sound recorder that can then be plugged into the computer for seamless
voice recognition. You'd end up having to edit the results, but that may be preferable to
re-dictating your field tapes. Jim Seymour at PCMagazine has done this; he wrote about it a few
months ago.
