Flash, FWIW, I'm on a Thinkpad T42. The cursor motion seems right to me.
When in windowed mode, I'm sensing just a very slight latency--a smidgen
of delay between pressing the key and seeing the character on screen.
But in full-screen mode, all feels very normal.
Regarding selection of fonts, the selections I make when in windowed
mode have no effect on the full-screen font; it seems to stay the same
no matter what. As I say, though, it's a perfectly serviceable font--I'm
just feeling the xywriter's urge to tweak. But I'm not sure how to alter
the full-screen font.

Trial and error. We have had very different results on different XP
machines; some people report readable fontsin both windowed and full
screen mode, others have readable fonts only in windowed mode. Microsoft
delivers with a selection of fonts. If you want, you can download and
install others in XP; these will then be available to Xy in the
properties tabs.
How's your cursor motion in windowed and full screen mode? Some people
report significant cursor delay (one second or more), others have
reported no jerky cursor. Seems to depend on PC or laptop hardware, not
Xy itself.
