eCom Station is essentially OS/2.
Which means you get a nice operating system (not Windoze), bundled with a
whole bunch of application software. I run OS/2 quite happily as a single
user. It is stable, multi-tasks superbly, etc. Oh yes, XyDos co-exists
quite happily (and better than that if you use Holmgren's add-ons to link
them up).
It should happily run on any reasonably modern machine. eCom advantage
over the barebones OS/2 is that it comes bundled with stuff and allegedly
has a much simplified installation program. I don't know that first-hand.
It is much simpler to get up to speed on than Linux, for sure. There are a
bunch of helpful os/2 webpages and lots of freeware/software to enhance
various capabilities.
