I have found that when one can write short looping programs, one never goes
back to writing macros or recording keystrokes.
I'm a fan of XPL, but this can all be done by one command-line operation,
from the top of the file:
ci /{A},//
where {A} denotes the wildcard for any alpha-numeric character (you get it
on most kbds by hitting alt-shift-a).
