Numbah One -- "optimized for particular platforms" -- I'm talking
about JavaOS, not Java Virual Machine. Meaning that something like
Corel's Word Perfect Office for Java *is* optimized for a particular
platform -- JavaOS -- but also runs under any other OS. Have you seen a
review of it running under JavaOS? I haven't.
But even worse -- you're argueing from the basis of reviews of
*pre-beta* software??

This, BTW, is one of the worst excuses for a web-page I've ever
experienced -- almost as bad (worse in some ways) than TTG's page. They
forget the most basic tenet of webpublishing -- that it has to work with
whatever -- and insist upon plug-ins, plus lock up the browser over and
over. And their content??? Almost non-existent! Only a few sentences in
their "reviews" really, mostly a lot of frame crap.

Uhhh -- no, I don't think so. The release of the Java version isn't
scheduled until this Fall. The *pre-beta* version is the only one I've
seen, and it -- as they clearly state -- is not even remotely complete.
It's not a "lite" version in any way, shape, or form -- it's *pre-beta*,
meaning it's not even a beta version yet. But perhaps you've never
tested beta software and have no concept of what that can mean.

Take a 110mhz Pentium and a 110mhz Sparc (such as the Netra) -- which
do you think is faster? Are they even remotely comparable?

Nope

Nope -- or at least not for anyone who knows unix

You pays your money and you takes your choice, I guess. Sun's don't
break all that much. Or crash.

Not many I want to run, but a lot of nice unix apps for free.

Nope -- in fact, most windoze apps are faster under unix.
