Two interesting things to consider about a project of this magnitude,
spanning nearly half a century, are: a) that some of the entries will be
out of date (if not arcane) by the time the work goes to press, and b)
that the project may itself affect the usage of some of the terms and
not merely reflect current usage.

Some of the later work could have been automated if thoughtful tagging
at an early stage had been performed. But given that work was begun
before the computer age, this is unlikely to have happened.
