Try version 5.1 and/or version 6.
I tried clicking (seems to be the same if you click anywhere on the bar)
but I don't seem many options. No "Text Aspect Ratio" but this is what
seems to change when I try to narrow the window. Sometimes it changes text
size too. With my setup, if I click "text size" I get a list of sizes --
but if I change the size of the window it sometimes changes the type size too.
It would be nice if the 'change color' worked -- I wouldn't mind working
with black on white for a while -- but it doesn't seem to work.
Maybe I should go back to website and try another version?

Patience. Try right-clicking on the window icon at the left of the title
bar of an open Xy session.
You'll see some of the many options. Under Text Aspect Ratio, uncheck "Vary
Aspect to Fit Window." I have checked "Use Aspect of Default Font" but you
can experiment with that.
Then experiment with window sizes and with the other settings. Also, right
click in the text area of Xy to set color (and you can set a different
foreground/background color for each area in Xy and each MOde in Xy.
You say it reduces memory usage, but the thing Tame is meant to do is
reduce CPU usage.
I have Tame version 5.1 Prerelease 9 (I think it's 9). For reasons having
to do with my special needs, version 6 doesn't work for me, but you should
try it, since you have nothing invested in 5 yet. The latest is 6.0rc14 and
is at TameDOS.com
I put Tame dos into my toshiba a few days ago, and I'm not sure whether I
am happy or not. It works, and seems to reduce memory usage, but I wonder
whether it's worth the cost.
It didn't have a setup file, even though the instructions imply that there
should be one. I don't seem to have any control over the size of the
window -- I can shrink it side to side with the cursor, but up and down it
does what it wants. When I open xy, it always uses a very wide box.
I don't like the type, and I don't see any way to change it. When I try to
change the size of the window, it changes the type size with it.
The tame "support" doesn't answer my questions.
I think I got the V version of Tame -- not the latest. Does anyone know if
the later versions are better? I chose the earlier one because someone
suggested it, and because my experience is that the later versions of
programs are not often better than the early ones.
I know some people in this group think tame is worth using -- but are
there other points of view? Would a setup file help, if I could find one
-- and does anyone have one?
