Thanks Patricia and Robert. I think that I may have
mentioned that I am using XY4 and that I checked both
the STARTUP file and the SETTINGS file. And indeed,
all of the fonts needed are in the appropriate loca-
tions.
In reply to Robert's question, Shift F8 is my key
for calling up the graphics view, and since I don't
recall ever changing this key, I figured that it was
likely that many on the list would be using the same
key for graphics, ...but perhaps not.
Once the lock-up, which I mentioned in my previous post,
occurs, everything is frozen, so I cannot switch to the
full-screen. Now, I know Robert that you mean for me
to do that when I am in DOS, or immediately after I load
XY. But, like many on the list, I hate what passes for
full-screen fonts under XP. So, that is not an option
as far as I am concerned, ...unless things get much worse.
And finally, the problem is not as simple as my not
having the Speedo fonts. If that had been the problem,
I could have solved it quickly. I have the Speedo
fonts and they are in the directory that the STARTUP file
says they are in.
It is clearly something else that takes place when XY4
locks-up, and this something else has the effect
of preventing me from entering into graphics view when
I return to the programme. I've yet to solve that.
What I finally had to do in the end was delete my XY4
directory, taking care not to delete my sub-directories,
and reload my XY4 directory. That solved it. But the
question remains: What is in the reload that is not in
the Thinkpad XY4 dircetory?
Again, thanks Patricia and Robert.
