Sure, that's what I was saying: that Postscript overcomes some of the
rigidities of a Xy3+ PRN file..

Right. But you're locked in to your printer file's specified sizes and fonts.
Using this approach, you can't change font or size without changing PRN files.
MDSU can only be one size+font, i.e. fonts may be scalable, but you can't avail
of that. As a practical matter, if we're only talking about printing a footnote
number, it's enough. But in Xy4+, you can adjust everything on-the-fly from
*within the document* -- you can truly use the scalability of the font. That's
much more flexible, IMO.
