Parallel and serial ports are options on several current Lexmark printers.
And some still support ppds! Now there's a commitment to backwards compatibility!

I did that with an old Lexmark printer I bought at auction. I got a
sealed original toner, _apparently_. But the prints were very dirty.
So perhaps this was a case such as Jordan has mentioned, where the toner
was too old? So I just got a new Lexmark. It put me off using eBay as a
toner supplier.

Jordan,
My advice is go for the real thing. The refills are a pain in the ass.
Use only genuine toner cartridges. There are cartridges available for
most of the old printers. Just browse the Internet.
