Oh, I was wondering whether you use III+ or 4. Certainly I can relate to your
comments about speed. I never used Signature for real work because it was
unacceptably slow. With Xy4, however, TTG addressed the speed issues in a
meaningful way, IMHO. At that point, the balance (for me) was tipped
decisively in favor of the improved functionality, in editing and XPL, and (not
to be ignored) the vastly improved memory management. Every once in a while,
though, I have occasion to revert to v3.55, and I can't help feeling wistful
about the speed (just as I was about the speed of XyII when XyIII was
introduced). But for most purposes, Xy4 suits me fine. Yet I, too, heartily
subscribe to the "ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy. If I had to choose
one version of XyWrite to place in a time capsule, I'd choose v3.55 over 4 --
for mainly sentimental reasons. Anyway, I certainly agree that your TIMEDATE
routines add meaningfully to the XyIII(+) environment. I wish I'd had them
when I was customizing III+.
