BTW, did we go through the neuroscientists--e.g., Lord Brain, and the

Yes. And Peter Herring the ichthyologist; Dr. Lightbody the
physiologist; Derrick, in the oil industry; Robert Delay, for
many years head of the Direct Mail Assn; Gen. Starbird, head of
the Army Missile Program; Lionel Tyger, mammalian ethologist;
Sharp Larsen, one-time treasurer of Utah; and innumerable lawyers
named Cheatham, Swindler, Lawless, etc.
I'm assuming Jeff's double entente was deliberate? i.e.,
1. Free, verb in the imperative mode; Lance Geeck, proper name,
object of "free"; = "Set Lance Geeck at liberty."
2. Free lance, 2-word adj., modifying "Geek," common noun; =
"geek available as independent contractor."
