Conflicts between XyDos and Windows???

>There's been a good bit of discussion here on the subject of XyWrite
under Novell and other OSes: the short answer is, moving to Xy4 will
probably solve your problems.

Thanks. I'll probably do that when I have the time to go through my
keyboard assignments line by line.

But--my fingers are crossed--the problem may have been quite simple
(aren't they always, in retrospect?). The last time MIS switched
hardware on me, they grudgingly kept a batch of my old software on a
different hard drive partition, labelled d:. I discovered yesterday that
the shortcut to Xy they had left on the "desktop" referred to
d:\xy\editor.exe (where indeed another copy of editor resided). When I
switched drive letters to c:, the problem seems to have gone away.
Maybe that kind of configuration really does cause low memory
conflicts???

But new MIS people always leap on any DOS-based program as the source of
all Windoze problems--it's a great ploy to impose Word et al. on the
holdouts who insist on editing tools instead of automatic writing
machines (to invoke a distinction made on one of these threads a week or
so ago). So I appreciate the support of a few more voices than my own
against the onslought of the mindless hoards.
