I have Library Master 2.x It is an extremely powerful program for
maintaining bibliographic information. It does other things, but
that's all I've used it for. I stopped using it because it was so
tedious to get references from the database into footnotes. It
did a wonderful job with bibliographies (it knows XyWrite III+
and is easily modified for IV.) Footnotes were another matter
given the relative difficulty of moving text between DOS
applications (for me, anyway).
Ibid. is much less powerful as a database, but integrates *much*
better into XyWrite for DOS. It may not format footnotes, but it
makes it simple to pop the raw data into your note to format by hand.
I haven't decided whether to order Library Master 3.0. It
*sounds* like its use of the Windows clipboard would simplify
footnotes. I also like the sound of "paste citation markers from
a database into your document". That's beginning to sound more
like Ibid., not to mention BibTeX (bibliographic program for TeX and LaTeX).
If I do have a moment of madness and order the upgrade I'll let
you you what I think of it. At any rate, it is a serious
product that's been around for a while, and is used by pro's
(e.g. technical staff in our main university library).
