Went to our campus computer store yesterday and tried to get to full-screen
DOS on XP and got only so far as a DOS box (emulation). None of the sales
people there (all young) could figure out how to get to full-screen DOS.
Moreover they could not understand why anyone would want to (another issue,
for sure). What would be enormously helpful here for the many of us who are
contemplating new machines (desktop and laptop) would be some sort of
short, impromptu help file that explains how to A: Get to full DOS screens
or full-screen emulations (not in a window) in WinXP, WinME, Win 2000, and
how to install XyDos on each if such an installation presents special
problems.
I know the kind folks who maintain the Xywweb site are very busy, but if
this information can be gathered without much fuss, it would be a great
addition to that site. Clearly hardware imbroglios (3/4 laptop
screens...screen fonts...printers that won't print from XyDos) are major
issues for us.
