If your home router broadcasts WiFi throughout your house, then your
home router has a WLAN access point built in (quite common in small
offices and homes).

WPA protected is not protected against this kind of attack.

The solution is to call your local service provider and ask customer
support whether they have issued a patch against the latest threat
called "WiFi Krack"). If so, ask whether they have implemented
automatic firmware upgrades for your router. If no automatic firmware
upgrade is available, ask whether you can manually upgrade the
firmware. There is usually a button to click on the router's browser
GUI to do this.

Upgrading the iPads is not recommended at this time, because the
11.x.x iOS upgrades do not address this issue. Before upgrading iPads,
read the following reviews to see whether you have any of the problems
which the current upgrades address; if you don't have those problems,
do not upgrade:
