Re: Luddite defined



I much prefer the friendly (or neutral) definition of a Luddite. Its use as
a perjorative is simultaneously a pre-emptive strike at someone who might
have cogent objections to some piece of alleged progress and a slur on the
historical Luddites, whose motives were neither whimsical nor stupid. That
said, I realize that it has entered the language as a perjorative. 
 *None* of which is to say I prefer III+ to 4 (actually and irrelevantly,
the contrary).
