-> Uh-uh. I just tried version 3/23/98 and it still doesn't

But I *do* worry about it! When software with glitches like that
crosses my path, I usually just chuck it. I don't like to trust my
data to half-baked code, and wouldn't expect you to, either. By the
same token, I'm grateful for user feedback such as yours, because
it's the best hope of getting annoying wrinkles like this ironed out
once and for all.

That said, are we on the same page? You say that ver. "3/23/98"
didn't solve the problem, but the version that I proposed as a fix
was "3/23/98-a", the successor to 3/23/98. In my tests, it worked
fine on your sample search and replace strings, as well as on many
others of my own concoction where the search string occurs at
Top_of_File.

The current version, BTW, is rev. "3/24/98". No difference under
the hood re the problem you identified -- same as 3/23/98-a in that
regard -- minor tweaks overall. So, would you double-check your ver.
and let me know? Thanks.
