Yes. The running, the operation, of XyDos full screen is indeed smooth,
smooth as it was in previous OS's. But the appearance is another matter.
Here's what happened in my case, and, as I gather, a few others as well.
Running on a 15-inch monitor with Ultravision full screen, the dos fonts
*appeared* relatively solid, well-formed, and it was possible to use XyDos
all day for writing and editing. Moving the same scheme to a 17-inch
monitor, or larger, however, the characters, even with UV, appeared
*rough,* not as smooth, whatever. For intensive all-day text work, it was
simply too hard on the eyes. Couple of us solved this by moving to XyDos in
a window, where we could play with various combinations to improve the
appearance of the text (I used Uwe Siebert's fonts). Problem came when we
tried to migrate to XP/2000 and encountered VDM lag. That's where we are
now. For writing and editing, XY is unequaled, especially with the U2
enhancements. Hence our ... what? ... persistence ...stubbornness ...with
screen issues, which are always subjective.
