eof box

I've figured out that I can use Win98 Notepad to delete the
eof box before sending attachments composed in Xy4.018, but
that's about 10 extra steps I'd rather not be bothered with.

Is there some way to prevent eof boxes from being created in
the first place? Page 15 in the Customization Guide says df
1A can be changed by =1 or =0 to cause Xy to either ignore
or honor it, but unless my fried brain is missing something,
this still leaves the eof box in place.

Is there a way out of this?
