I am always happy to hear that XyWriters are finding that NB "works like
a charm." Since the question has been asked, I would like to give an
update on the status of NB compatibility with XP.
Many people, like David, are using Nota Bene 6.0 under Windows XP with
no problems. However, since the release in early 2002 of Windows XP, we
have become aware of a handful bugs in NB that are specific to XP. Some
users encounter them and others do not. The most commonly encountered XP
bug is the paragraph settings dialog (Paragraph on the Format menu)
which just doesn't work properly under XP. A less commonly encountered,
but serious, problem is the inability to use NB on a computer that is
sometimes using a network printer and sometimes disconnected from the
network. There are also some fairly trivial bugs. We have fixed all the
XP bugs and fixes will be incorporated in v. 6.1. We expect to release
6.1 within the next couple of weeks and it will be free (via download)
for all who purchase 6.0. In the meantime, we have been making the
fixes available to XP users who encounter problems.
I use NB (with the XP fixes) on XP every day, and have no problems.
