Friends.
At the outset want to make it clear that the trouble is either user
error (mine) or a system peculiarity. Nothing wrong with the frame.
Here's the story: running Xy 4.018, U2 v.119 (latest update); XyOS=W98.
Path includes C:\progra~1\gs\gs8.15\bin\, the directory which contains
gswin32c.exe as well as pstotxt3.exe&dll.
Have read the archives, noting and sympathizing with the hoops
Patricia had to jump through before finding her solution.
Issuing the following command: pdf2xy c:\xy4\xpl.pdf obtain
the following result:
an infinitely looping scroll "on top of" the standard Xy screen (as if
something is writing to standard output) of 'File exists
"c:\xy4\LFN.TMP"'. This filespec is also shown in the Name line of the
display. The whole thing can only be stopped by ctl-alt-del then
clicking out of the Close Program dialog from M$. Left staring at the
desktop.
Have tried starting the command in the directory of gswin32c.exe,
listed above: same result. Have tried with other .pdf files: same
result. Ironically, I've wanted to use the frame to study XPL without
having to alt-tab between Acrobat and Xy. As such, and in my
inexperienced way, have studied the code in U2 for PDF2XY which has
yielded little for my understanding; I can't see where the program
depends on anything to do with LongFileName--this is surely my lack of
knowledge at work.
Thank you for hints or fixes or queries, any attention is appreciated.
