I got Knoppix from LinuxCD http://www.linuxcd.org/ which ships CDs for
$3.49 apiece including postage (from France!). They ask you if you want to
contribute $1 to the distro, so of course I did.
It was so cheap I was surprised to actually get it, a week later. The
French post office has a great sense of humor -- airmail stamps with paper
airplanes.
