Re: eComStation (off topic)

Correct. I have eComStation installed on all my computers. The minimum
requirement is 16 meg memory, 500M hard disk space, VGA video, and
CD/ROM drive. A more practical minimum is 64 Meg memory, 1 gig free
space on a hard drive. It can co-exist with Windows 98.

The web site www.ecomstation.com is less than clear in describing the
OS, partly (I think) to avoid the OS/2 stigma put out by Bill Gate's
minions.

eCom Station is essentially OS/2.
Which means you get a nice operating system (not Windoze), bundled
with a
whole bunch of application software. I run OS/2 quite happily as a
single
user. It is stable, multi-tasks superbly, etc. Oh yes, XyDos
co-exists
quite happily (and better than that if you use Holmgren's add-ons to
link
them up).
It should happily run on any reasonably modern machine. eCom
advantage
over the barebones OS/2 is that it comes bundled with stuff and
allegedly
has a much simplified installation program. I don't know that
first-hand.
It is much simpler to get up to speed on than Linux, for sure. There
are a
bunch of helpful os/2 webpages and lots of freeware/software to
enhance
various capabilities.
