There are several solutions, see the archives (try searching for
"portable"). One such is to use the SUBST command:
Configure startup.int, settings.dfl, and any other such files to reference
Z: instead of C: or A: (e.g., LDKBD Z:\Xy4.kbd). Then use the DOS alias
command to make the pen drive be Z:. E.g., if then pen drive comes up as
F: do at a DOS prompt:
Subst z: f:
That way, the only thing you have to vary is the second variable in the
SUBST command.
Perhaps not a new question, but
I can setup a xy work disk on an usb-pen,
but (while a floppy is always seen as A:) this is drive is seen
as various letters,
so all xy settings go wrong..
the problem is to set the configuration,
so xy can find all needed files, also if the drive is changed...
