Re: Double underline

Michael H. Granof on 11/5/96, asked about double underlining.

In XY 3.57, you can place an EL n (where n is any fractional portion
of one line space) at the end of any line. Typically, XY considers
one vertical inch to consist of 6 lines. The HP LJ II will dutifully
advance the paper by the fraction you specify. Then input the second
horizontal rule, either with the underline character or with the LD
command. In DOS, using downloadable fonts (e.g., the AD package from HP)
the leader character can be whatever's available, perhaps even a hairline
rule.

You can extend this feature (!) to compose a set of HRs with varying
thicknesses. The LaserJets will print HRs so close together (e.g., .025")
that they look overprinted, and will appear quite comely.
