If a modern NB version suits you, then you should of course use it. Even NB 4 for DOS was too rigid
for my liking, so I am still mainly working with NB 3 for DOS. The printer issue should be resolved
by hardware. I have a LJ 2100TN attached to a parallel port, works perfectly from VPC. It should not
be too difficult to buy a second-hand parallel office printer with enough mileage left. Or output a
PS file and distill it in Acrobat or equivalent.

No. Basically it cannot be done (or could theoretically using double virtualization). Win 8 uses
Hyper V, and Hyper V and Virtual PC are incompatible.

FreeDOS has some great utilities (like KEYB) that can used to enhance MS-DOS, but FreeDOS cannot run
Win 3.11. So I would simply avoid it.
