Thanks for that recommendation, Carl. I have had an extension called Print Edit for some time, but did not find it very user friendly. That made it hard to know just what it could or could not do.I have to assume that when an article page won't Save or Print -- absent extraordinary interventions -- this was deliberate and not accidental. I'm still largely clueless as to how they arranged this. More often than not, I was accustomed to seeing most of the article text represented there in the page source somewhere, though it was not present in the example I cited. If they are using _javascript_ links to call out to hidden, remote repositories for many of the page elements, then I guess that is part of the answer right there. We are prevented from directly accessing them.Jordan

Jordan,
You may want to check out a browser add-on called CleanPrint
(www.formatdynamics.com/). It provides lots of flexibility in
formatting printed output from web pages. You can pick and choose
which page elements to include or exclude, play with type sizes, etc.
The output can be directed to a printer, a PDF, or a "text" (RTF) file
that can be edited in Word or another word-processor. It was recently
mentioned on the Nota Bene mailing list, and I've been using it
happily. Here's an example of a printout that I formatted in Word:

I like that CleanPrint allows me to include and (re)format photos and
graphics from web pages whose Print button normally produces only the
text.
