Re: Xy on Mac, and thereafter

Carlo, et al,

≪When OS X goes you and I may be left with VPC and OS X much the way
we're left with XY and DOS, but then who knows what retrocompatibility
might be yet to come with OS X's (unforeseeable?) successor?≫

In 50 years we retros may be running virtual Xy3+ in virtual w2k in
virtual OS X on some Chinese OS we can't pronounce.

I think Russ has hit the nail on the head, that there simply is no OS
that does everything well and interoperates with all others seamlessly.
That means setting priorities and living with compromises and patches.
Every OS requires a "user adjustment" as Jordan said, and that, perhaps
as much as purely objective functionality, determines which new OSs find
a high degree of user acceptance. People tend to stick with what they
know, even if they hate it.
