 I've solved the problem mentioned below, only to discover that
 COMPACT.??? (which adds features to the menus), is not compatible
 with Carl's Jumbo file. Unfortunately, this means having to make
 a choice, ...and the choice, it seems to me, is obvious. I opt
 for Jumbo.
