p-l craziness

Carl and Harry note problems with p-l mode; I, too have had the first
characters on the left margin disappear; cursors float around or refuse to
move over the first top-left format triangle; text suddenly shift into
overstrike or substitute a different character than the key I've struck.
I've had to reboot the program in every case. Someone here said that
XyWin is unstable under Win95, and I'm beginning to believe it.
