My original message seems to have been ambiguous, but Annie read it
correctly. I vote with Sherry for including, when your message depends on a
previous one and does not say what the issue is, a brief snippet or summary
for those of us who cope with too many messages to remember everything. On
the other hand, if you insist on quoting the whole previous message (or 2 or
3), that is your choice, and there is no law that will get you tossed off
the Internet. My suggestion was simply that if you do quote the whole
message, you put the new content first so readers aren't forced to negotiate
the previous message to get to the new one.
