Dick and friends,
I love to hear people say nice things about Nota Bene! Thanks! Quite
a few people have told us that version 8 is much more user-friendly than
earlier versions. With regard to documentation, we do have 600 pages of
printable documentation in NB format and PDF format. And the same material is
also available in HLP (on screen) format.
Dick’s posting comes two days after our spring sale ended. But
if any of you are interested in purchasing Scholar’s Workstation (or Lingua
Workstation which adds support for Hebrew, Greek, Cyrillic, etc.) at a
discounted price, we can offer two discounts. First you are always entitled to
our XyWrite discount which is the same as our student price (normally $249 for
Scholar’s Workstation). Secondly, if you can place your order by the end of next
week, we will extend our sale prices for you ($199 for Scholar’s Workstation).
Just go to the following page, click through to the order form and you will see
the price for “Upgrades from Nota Bene DOS or XyWrite.”

There is no link this page from our main web page, so you need
to go to it directly. This page will be active until July 17.
Best to all,
Anne

Subject: Re: Undocumented keyboard functions NB 3.0- Use of NB 8.0
A few years ago, my version (4.?) of XY lost one or mare of
the DLLs that are needed for operating. The install disks are
corrupted. I moved to NB and have not been sorry. I amended the
printer interface so the function keys map as XY so I did not hav to re-learn
the new layout.
The min problem is termonology and lack of HARDCOPY documentation (All NB
documentation is via help and other non-hardcopy features) An
example of termonology difference is XY has SAVEGET while in NB the same thing
is the LIBRARY.
I have found NB SWS to be MOST USEFUL but only in the later versions.
