I solved the problem installing the printer with the old postscript driver
for
win 3.1x.
Isn't there a lot of potential downside to using such an old driver? For
one thing, Adobe Jenson, a multiple master font with an intermediate
master, wouldn't work. (Whether you would want to use it is another
question!) I understand that Jenson requires a newer Adobe PostScript
driver. (And that Adobe's support experiences with Jenson were so bad that
it will no longer make fonts with intermediate masters.) -- But, speaking
of Adobe's PostScript drivers -- which are free from their website -- would
using these help cure the problem?
Or could the new Adobe driver be counterproductive. I certainly am having
trouble with XW, but I have not seriously tried to debug it yet -- hoping
that either TTG or NB would come out with something meant to work with
reasonably current software. I need to have the latest printer drivers to
work with other software (PageMaker, Quark, Netscape, Opera, etc.), so it
is a bit of a quandary.
