India has a different system of patent laws than we do. I believe it's one
of the countries where you can lose a patent for failure to work the patent.

As you may have read in the news reports, Indian pharmaceutical companies
were copying American and British AIDS drugs, and selling them for $300 for
a year's supply rather than the $10,000 it used to cost. The big
pharmaceutical companies were fighting it, but that battle seemed to have
collapsed, especially with the Cipro patent.
