thanks for your replay.

No. I checked it this ways:
- searching for cr/lf via cmd line ("se ctrl-enter"); successful;
- counting the character number at cursor position, before and after the
cr/lf: 2 characters difference;
- comparing the original file and the modified file via cmd line (func FD):
no difference.

immediately

Done. And yes, it works. And it worked if run from text window instead of
from from the command line (F5 run pgm Shift-F5 F9), as you correctly
supposed.
Now I'm curious. The companion 5cr210 (cr/lf to lone lf) does not have GT
but works fine, both from command line and from text window: which is the
mystery?

The operating system I'm using is the "very first version" of Windows 95.
The machine is an Intel 486 DX 33 based notebook, with 12 MB of memory.
