It's probably (if I understand you correctly) because of the font you have
chosen. Just do a Alt-F8 while you are editing, and it will go into draft edit
mode. Also you might want to look up that in your manual -- using the various edit modes, I mean.
Like, you can do ^F8 to see all your formatting codes in expanded mode, or just
F8 for plain, or Shift-F8 for WYSIWYG graphics mode, or Alt-F8 for draft edit.
Or -- you can switch back to the default font until you actually are going to
get ready to print, which is best. Since using the alt-F8 takes away line
numbering, etc. In other words, don't put in the fancy typefaces until you are
done.
