I can't recall how I split the screen before menus were available. If Ctrl-F10 is supposed to give you a vertical split, call up the Xy keyboard file and look for F10 in the Crtl table. For what it is worth, Ctrl-F10 does what it is supposed to do on my Mac with OSX running Xy IV with Boxer. Boxer was/is a lot easier for me to understand and use. Once you "install" Xy in or with Boxer, what appears to be a Mac application called XY is created. In fact it is a "package" used by Boxer to run XY. You can "reveal" its contents to see the DOS config file and the contents of what will appear as Drive C.
