XyWrite for Windows

I installed XyWrite for Windows and converted over most of my
need-it-now macros/setups from DOS Xy 3.55; I'll convert some of
my more infrequently used things when time permits.

Since I've only been using Win Xy for a few hours, I'll wait
until I'm more familiar with it before getting into the thick of
things but a few questions arise:

In Xy 3.55 I have the Tab key as a shifting key, and also split
the left Alt from the right Alt, in the kbd file. There seems to
be no problem making the Tab a shifting key in Win Xy, it's
working fine and is the kbd table where I have my screenwriting
hotkeys and respective whatnots assigned. Everything's working
(seemingly) okay, the respective save/gets from 3.55 run after a
few minor tweeks, etc. However, the right Alt key ain't
splitting. Is this a Windows/XyWrite thing, taking over the Alt
key, or should the right Alt key be able to split from the left
Alt key in the kbd file, thus using one (the right Alt key, in my
case) for one's own hotkeys instead of it being used for the
menus?

In Xy 3.55, and other versions, we can integrate our own XPL with
the help facility and I created numerous routines that
interactively utilize 3.55's ability to fashion custom help
frames; Type 5, Type 1, Type C, etc., etc. Is this a thing of
the past and no longer supported? I have lots of XPL routines
that use these help frames for inputting fields and then act
conditionally based on what is, or isn't, entered. It's going to
be a nuisance to convert these to standalone XPL pgms, especially
since they make use of upper save/gets storing otherwise
repetitious subroutines and/or link up with other help custom
help frames.

Lastly (for now), I don't know from fonts or typefaces or
proportional spacing, etc. My documents have to be monospaced,
using a single font, such as Pica characters, whatever. Ten
characters per inch. So I'm a little confused by the various
options. I'll be working in draft or page/line modes mostly.
Any suggestions for a 10cpi setting, monospaced, so that what I
see in any screen mode (i.e., draft, page/line, WYSIWYG) is what
I can expect on paper when printed in terms of layout?

Simiarly, is there a column indicator? In 3.55 there's the ruler
which, if toggled on, displays the cursor column position. This
makes it easy to create margins or make IP changes quickly
because you can see in which column the cursor is or will reside.
The ruler in Win Xy doesn't appear to do this, however.

Thanks.

Bob

P.S. Is it fair to assume that this is the end of the line for
XyWrite, or is the suggestion box still open for future versions
and enhancements?
