Dear Robert
In your letter to me re:Help Help with U2 installation dated Dec 24, 2004 in referring to REGEDIT you wrote: > the terminology here parallels that of the external windows registry, which i thought was a good idea because it was familiar, and people would immediately know what we were driving at. one look at xywwweb.reg, and you know 1) it isn't the windows registry, and 2) it's simple configuration stuff -- filenames and locations, mainly, all xywrite-related. but instead, everything about it -- the nomenclature, the data inside -- seems to scare people. they should get un-scared. You have total command of every aspect of windows and xywrite. Most people on the xywrite users list don't have such a command and thus do not see as clearly as you do that the REGEDIT in the windows world and the REGEDIT in the Xywrite world while using parallel terminology are different programs or commands. As you yourself pointed out this seems to scare people. Since for whatever reason there is much confusion and fear resulting from the term REGEDIT being used to refer to two different commands or programs, one in the window world and one in the xywrite world for those of us who are not versed like you are in every nuance of xywrite and windows why not rename REGEDIT in the Xywrite world so that you will not be imposed upon to keep repeating that the two REGEDITs are different. or that the registry referred to in the context of U2 is not the windows registry avromf@xxxxxxxx or mailto:af413@xxxxxxxx |
