Harry,
I uses the force-kill of DOS to end the vDos task and, perforce, the
XyWrite instance that operates inside it. It's a brutal, not a
graceful, exit. But it's quick and effective.
Why kill as opposed to an orderly shutdown? If you put EXIT as the
last statement in AUTOEXEC.TXT, the vDosPlus session closes, gently,
when you quit Xy.
There is occasionally a need to kill the session if it hangs, but by
definition that has to be done externally, via Task Manager or
TASKKILL. Also, see frames KILL and KILLL in U2; the intended use is
to kill processes outside of XyWrite, but KILL VDOSPLUS
works, too. But, again, why not just QUIT?
