Re: DOSBox-X version 0.83.10 released!

Edward Mendelson has suggested the ability to automatically save the current state (with DOSBox-X's existing save state feature) in a regular time interval, e.g. 15 seconds, so that every 15 seconds the current state would be saved (without a prompt), and you can load a saved state afterwards. As a result, I have already implemented the auto save state feature to automatically save states at regular intervals and users can optionally also specify a save slot or start and end save slots to be used. For example, "autosave=10 11 20" will set a 10-second time interval for auto-saving, and the save slots used will be between 11 and 20. If no save slot is specified, then the current save slot will be used for auto-saving. Note however that the existing save state feature is not 100% perfect, so it may be possible that the application may not work fully as expected after loading a saved state.

Maybe I just intended to. I would want to have the same almost unlimited levels of undo that Windows has. If dosbox-x for Windows does "talk" to the Windows OS, maybe it could just be mobilizing Windows' undo.

Robert Holmgren did a within-XyWrite undo that I couldn't get to work very well (maybe it's me). But the Windows cross-app undo is perfect.

Is that the kind of answer you had in mind?

Hi Harry,

I do not quite remember you requested this before, so can you please let me know how this feature is supposed to work? Thanks!

Wengier,

I may have written before, but the one thing that XyWrite desperately needs is Window's undo feature. Is there any way to get that in a dosbox-x platform for Xy?

Thanks for all your great work,
Harry

John sent me an email regarding the cursor speed option. In case anyone else does not yet know, with the latest DOSBox-X 0.83.10 you can customize the cursor blinking speed in TTF output with the ttf.blinkc option. Cursor speed customization is new in this version (as part of "Improved TrueType font (TTF) output" in the release notes). Just set an integer between 1 (fastest) and 7 (slowest) to change TTF cursor blinking rate, or setting it to 0 for no cursor (or false for non-blinking cursor as in previous versions). The default value when you enable the ttf.blinkc option is 4 on the standard setting, or 6 for PC-98 systems.
