Re: DOSBox-X version 0.83.11 released!

Wengier,

Congratulations on .83.11!

Would you be kind enough to answer the questions that would open the door for me?

1. Can I change the name of the config file used? Ending it in a 4-letter extension makes things difficult for me.
2. Can I specify somewhere the location of the config file being used? Or does it have to be in a /dosbox-x subdirectory?
3. Can I load a new config file from the command line in a running instance of dosbox-x/XyWrite? If so, how?
4. I see in the menu, under Main/Configuration tool there is a save option, but I get confused by the different options. For instance, there is a checkbox for: "Save all config options to the configuration file"--which configuration file? The one I typed into the text field? The one with the button "Use primary config file?" or one of the other two (portable and user)?  And what is a "user config file"? When is it put in effect?
5. I assume that it saves the current state to that file, is that correct?
6. What does the checkbox mean by "all config options"? As opposed to some? I don't get it.
7. Each new release kills the settings I've established, over hours, in the previous releases (even though it's not supposed to when I tell the installer not to do that).

Thanks,
Harry

Hi all,

The latest version of DOSBox-X (0.83.11) is now officially released. Being a cross-platform DOS emulator, as usual there are quite a few improvements in this new release compared with the previous version 0.83.10, such as greatly improved cross-platform clipboard features, new DOS commands (CHCP, COLOR, PUSHD, POPD, REPLACE), new BIOS Setup Utility and BIOS screen improvements, new functions for saving states automatically, improved launching Windows applications, file/record-locking for Linux and macOS systems, along with many usability improvements such as
scalable Configuration Tool windows, breaking from long outputs from DOS shell commands, allowing to change output options dynamically from the command-line, and many more. You can find the DOSBox-X 0.83.11 release notes here:

https://dosbox-x.com/release-0.83.11.html

Windows installer and Linux Flatpak package for DOSBox-X 0.83.11 are officially available to ease the installation, in addition to other packages including portable packages for Windows, macOS and DOS. You will find the official downloads for them from the DOSBox-X homepage:

You can also download a Windows portable version of DOSBox-X 0.83.11 from:

http://cndos.fam.cx/dosware/dosbox-x-update.zip

It has the TrueType font output, clipboard device (CLIP$) and the dynamic_x86 CPU core set by default which are more optimized for XyWrite.

Thanks a lot for your support!
