Harry,
As the program formats, sorts and adds all missing keyboard numbers by
table, it is very difficult to accommodate this. It would result in
lines without proper syntax to be tossed around, and comments would lose
their original location.
As to your "; TABLE=Ctrl" lines,
simply delete all of them, you won't need them as the KT end result has
Ctrl on every line that belongs to a Ctrl table.
On the other hand, if you want keep those comments in KT and in the
resulting KBD files after running KT2KBD, you have to add ";nnn="
numbering first to KBD, and in KT, change ": nnn=" to ":;nnn=" as the
system is designed to strip all comments, shown by ": " in KT, from the
KBD file it produces. This is contrary to the idea of this system which
is to edit only KT files after the initial conversion, and let the
system make the conversion to a minimal XyWrite engine readable KBD file
without any unnecessary comments. If you want to keep editing KBD files,
the system is not perhaps for you. It is not meant to be KBD => KT =>
KBD => KT, etc. cycle. It is an initial KBD => KT, and then all edits in
KT format, and conversions to KBD without going back to check or edit
the KBD (it is guaranteed identical to the portion shown after colons in
KT, without any comment lines beginning by a space after the colon).
To test the system without editing your KBD file, you can make an empty
KBD file like this:
;KB;
KEYS=105
CTRL=29,99
ALT=56,98
SHIFT=42,54
TABLE=
TABLE=CTRL
TABLE=SHIFT
TABLE=ALT
TABLE=CTRL+SHIFT
Save these lines as empty.kbd and run "KBD2KT empty". To enable a line,
remove the space after the colon and add a key definition.
Hope this helps you to decide if this system is worth your while.
Best regards,
Kari Eveli

Kari,
Up to now, I have been entering comments like:
; TABLE=Ctrl
about every 30 lines so that I will always see what table I'm in as I
move around in the (large) kbd file.
But your documentor gives me this error
Change the following KBD file line to ";NNN=comment" format before retrying:
; TABLE=
I envision many such errors appearing, one by one, as I "fix" each one.
Perhaps it's looking a (much appreciated) gift horse in the mouth,
couldn't it be written to accommodate my kind of commenting---i.e., a
semicolon followed by a lot of spaces then text?
Thanks,
Harry
